44 year old Jennifer Wentz was shot and killed while waiting to pick her daughter up from work in Warren, Michigan on March 9, 2020.
At 2:07 am, Jennifer was at the 11 Mile and Hoover shopping plaza in Warren, waiting to pick her daughter up from the RUE 21 Store.
While sitting in her vehicle she was shot by an unknown male. She tried to drive away, but passed out before dying.
Just before the shooting, Jennifer had sent her daughter a text letting her know she was waiting in the car. When the daughter went outside she saw her mom slumped over the steering wheel of her 2003 Pontiac Bonneville.
The suspect is described as a black male with a light complexion, 17-25 years old, 5’11-6’3 tall, thin build, wearing a black or dark blue stitched jacket, black Adidas pants, and dark colored shoes.
Surveillance footage shows the individual loitering in the plaza prior to the shooting, then running west toward the alley behind Kroger after the shooting. He was last seen headed south on Lorraine.
At the time of the initial investigation, police said they believed the shooting was the result of an attempted carjacking. There is no indication that Jennifer knew her killer.
Jennifer was a single mom and long time waitress at the coney island at 12 Mile and Groesbeck in Roseville.
