On November 24, 2022, Mauricio Baez Jr. was murdered while visiting his wife’s family in Detroit from Florida.
While in Detroit, Baez and his wife were looking at her brother’s new car when the brother offered to take them for a ride around the block.
Around 7:30 pm, the wife was driving with Mauricio in the back seat when they heard shots being fired while in the area of Hayden and Vaughn Streets near I-96. A black Dodge Durango was following and shooting at them, resulting in Mauricio being fatally hit.
At 7:34 pm, Mauricio’s wife called his mother to let her know he had been shot. The brother also stated he had fired back.
Mauricio was only 26 years old. To date no arrests have been made in connection to the case.
