Dawn Phillips was a mother of five young girls. According to her family, she was a “loving mother, a beautiful wife and a very dear friend.”
On January 19, 1996, Dawn was last seen by her daughters after giving them a bath. She sat them down to watch TV and ran to the corner store. Dawn never returned home.
On October 1, 1996, her body was found in the 600 block of Canright Street NE in Plainfield Township by a group of young kids walking in the woods. She was identified by dental records.
Her death was classified as “homicide by unknown means.” Dawn’s case is one of 17 women who went missing or were murdered in the Grand Rapids area during the mid 1990s.
