45 year old David Gergel was shot and killed on Sunday September 6, 2015. The incident took place around 3 p.m. while David was driving in southwest Detroit, near Dix and Woodmere.
Gergel was there to pick up a payment for a paint job when he came across a black Cadillac stopped in the middle of the street. As Gergel drove around the car, someone in the Cadillac opened fire. One shot went through his driver’s seat, hitting him in the back.
Gergel managed to drive himself a few blocks to a store at Dix and Woodmere where the owner called 911. He was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police believe it was a road rage incident. Surveillance video shows that the car the gunman was in was a newer model, black 4-door Cadillac.
